The Ego
Alan Watts, a philosopher and thinker gave a speech some time ago about the false idea of who we are. What he said in his speech was pretty rich in some ways yet also profound as you think about who you are, what do do, and how complicated yet beautiful life can be. Alan was a well-known British philosopher, writer and speaker, best known for his Eastern ideas and authored hundreds of speeches to many audiences and many books about philosophical concepts around being present, the ego, and mindfulness.
Illusions
He spoke some time before his death about the Illusion of money, time, and ego. He noted some really interesting ideas about settling into reality and considering how you think and why you think that way. I found some of his ideas about the Self and our inner roommate, our inner language and the ego and conceptualization of the Self.
Questions to consider.
How do you decide what to think? What beliefs limit your capacity to live in the present?
